Our Roof Cleaning Method
First, we inspect the roof and look at the type of roof cleaning that is necessary. We take into account all factors, including the type of roof you have, its age and types of moss and algae that your roof may be hosting. There are several different types of moss that may be found on roofs and some are much more resilient than others. Typically, if there is a lot of moss growth, we will mix up a barrel of our peroxide based solution and pre-treat your roof before we wash it. This solution will help to loosen the moss on your roof in order for the roof to be cleaned more thoroughly. We also sweep off any loose debris, like pine needles, leaves or anything else that may have found its way onto your roof. You'd be surprised! In this way, we prepare your roof for its cleaning.
Second, we begin on the roof washing portion of your roof cleaning. Johnny Tsunami uses a very low pressure and non-damaging water flow. It has been said that you should never pressure wash your roof-- this is true! Johnny uses a low-pressure stream, just over the pressure of your typical garden hose sprayer-- enough to get the moss, but not enough to damage your roof.
We start at the ridges of your roof and wash all the dirt, moss, and debris down towards the edge of your roof. We take our time and do a thorough job, so that your roof comes out looking most excellent with its fresh new cleaning. This process, on average, takes between 2-8 hours depending on the size of your roof.
Third, we treat your roof with a zinc sulfate treatment to discourage future algae and moss growth.
Fourth, we provide cleanup. Your gutters may fill up with moss, tree matter, and debris, so Johnny provides a FREE gutter cleaning! The roof cleaning process can create a mess around your home as well, so we make sure to wash up around your home and any patio, driveway or walkway areas that may have been affected.
